This is a relationship-focused, office-based sales role where you will be responsible for maintaining regular contact with customers, ensuring consistent ordering patterns, and identifying opportunities to grow account spend. The customer base consists primarily of independent, owner-managed businesses, making strong communication and relationship-building skills essential.
The position is predominantly telephone-based and suited to someone who enjoys managing a high volume of accounts, building customer loyalty, and delivering excellent service while working towards sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of independent retail customer accounts
* Build and maintain strong relationships with business owners and key decision-makers
* Conduct regular outbound calls to ensure customer engagement and consistent ordering
* Identify opportunities to increase sales through upselling and cross-selling products
* Reactivate dormant or declining accounts and drive customer retention
* Provide quotations and process customer orders accurately
* Manage a large number of smaller accounts effectively
* Maintain accurate customer records, activity logs, and order information within the CRM system
* Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure smooth order fulfilment and customer satisfaction
* Contribute towards individual and team sales targets
About You
* Previous experience in sales, account management, customer service, or telesales
* Comfortable making regular outbound calls and building relationships over the phone
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Organised with the ability to manage multiple customer accounts simultaneously
* Proactive and self-motivated approach to customer engagement
* Resilient, target-driven, and commercially aware
* Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
* Experience within retail, wholesale, FMCG, consumables, or distribution environments would be advantageous but is not essential
