How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a technically minded engineer looking to take the next step in your career?

Do you enjoy working with customers, solving engineering challenges and building relationships, but don't necessarily want to spend the next 20 years solely carrying out service, commissioning or applications support?

If so, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Consulo are proud recruitment partners to one of the world's leading precision engineering manufacturers, renowned for innovation, engineering excellence and continuous investment in research and development. Their technology is utilised by some of the most advanced manufacturing businesses globally and is recognised as being among the highest quality products available within their field.

Operating at the forefront of engineering innovation, they continue to develop cutting-edge technologies that support customers across a broad range of high-growth industrial sectors.

For decades, our client has been recognised as a market-leading OEM supplying technologically sophisticated engineering solutions into advanced manufacturing environments worldwide.

Their products are trusted by OEMs, machine builders and end users operating within:

    • Automation & Robotics
    • Packaging Machinery
    • Aerospace & Defence
    • Automotive Manufacturing
    • Semiconductor Manufacturing
    • Medical Equipment & Devices
    • Materials Handling & Logistics Automation
    • CNC & Machine Tool Builders
    • Food & Beverage Manufacturing
    • General Industrial Manufacturing

With significant investment into R&D, product development and engineering innovation, they continue to set industry benchmarks for quality, precision and performance.

    The Opportunity

This is not a high-pressure sales role.

Instead, it is a consultative engineering position where you will work closely with customers to understand applications, solve technical challenges and develop long-term engineering relationships.

You will inherit an established territory whilst also identifying opportunities for future growth across the East Midlands region.

The business has an excellent track record of developing technically capable engineers into highly successful Field Sales Engineers and will provide extensive product and industry training.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage relationships with OEMs, machine builders and industrial end users
    • Conduct regular customer visits throughout the East Midlands territory
    • Identify new business opportunities and develop existing accounts
    • Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate engineering solutions
    • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations
    • Work closely with internal engineering and customer support teams
    • Generate quotations and follow opportunities through to completion
    • Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline activity
    • Attend exhibitions, customer events and industry functions when required
    • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback

    Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates from backgrounds such as:

    • Field Service Engineers
    • Applications Engineers
    • Technical Support Engineers
    • Commissioning Engineers
    • Automation Engineers
    • Mechanical Engineers with customer-facing experience
    • Graduate Engineers with some industry exposure

    You will ideally possess:

    • A mechanical, electromechanical, mechatronics or engineering qualification
    • Previous experience within a customer-facing engineering environment
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • A genuine interest in engineering and technology
    • Commercial awareness and a desire to progress into technical sales
    • A proactive, driven and self-motivated attitude

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious engineer who wants to combine technical expertise with customer engagement and build a rewarding long-term career within one of the engineering sector's most respected manufacturers.
