How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Their projects typically range from £1.5 million to £5 million in value, encompassing new-build luxury residences, substantial refurbishments, extensions and complex alterations to prestigious private homes. Every project is approached with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

    About the company

Our client combines the structure and professionalism of a well-run, process-driven business with the warmth and support of a genuinely family-orientated culture. They recognise that their people are central to their success and actively encourage collaboration, involvement and personal development across all levels of the business.

    Their values include:

    Delivering quality without compromise
Acting with integrity and professionalism in all that they do
Building long-term relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
Supporting and investing in their people
    Working collaboratively as one team
Taking pride in creating exceptional homes that exceed expectations
    The Opportunity

Due to continued growth this respected, growing contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious QS looking to play a key role within a respected contractor, working on prestigious residential projects and becoming an integral part of a supportive and forward-thinking business.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the commercial management of construction projects, from pre-construction through to final account agreement.

    Key Responsibilities

Managing the commercial aspects of multiple high-end residential projects
Preparing, submitting and negotiating interim valuations with client representatives
Managing variations, including identification, valuation and agreement with clients and consultants
    Procuring and managing subcontract packages
Building and maintaining strong relationships with the supply chain
Assessing and agreeing subcontractor valuations and variations
Preparing and negotiating subcontractor final accounts
Preparing and agreeing client final accounts
Monitoring project costs and reporting on commercial performance
Supporting project teams with contractual and commercial advice
Administering contracts, predominantly under the JCT Intermediate Form of Contract
Assisting with cash flow forecasting and cost planning
Contributing to monthly commercial reporting processes
Providing support with the estimating and tendering of new projects, where appropriate

    About the Candidate

We are looking for someone who is commercially astute, organised and proactive, with the ability to work collaboratively across both internal and external teams.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
Strong knowledge of contract administration, particularly JCT Intermediate Contracts
Experience managing valuations, variations and final accounts
Confidence in dealing directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors
    Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
The ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
Relevant construction qualifications (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent) desirable
    What They Offer

The opportunity to work on some of the region's most prestigious residential projects
A varied role with exposure to both commercial management and pre-construction estimating activities
A stable position within a well-established and growing business
A professional, structured and process-driven working environment
A supportive, family-focused culture where every team member is valued
Opportunities for continued professional development and career progression
A competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company where quality, teamwork and people matter just as much as commercial success.
