How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are working with  a well known and award-winning multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Structural Engineer / Associate for their Structural Engineering team in Leicester.

This is a key leadership role within the office, offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, lead and mentor engineers, and play an active role in the continued growth of the business.

    The Role

As Senior Structural Engineer / Associate, you will combine hands-on technical delivery with team leadership and client engagement. Responsibilities will include leading and managing the structural engineering team in Leicester, delivering high-quality structural designs across a varied project portfolio, and taking responsibility for projects from concept through to completion. You will liaise directly with clients, consultants, and contractors, support and mentor junior engineers and technicians, and contribute to business development and client relationship management. You will also ensure all work complies with relevant standards, codes, and BIM Level 2 requirements.

    Project Portfolio

The role offers exposure to a broad range of projects across the East Midlands and the wider UK. Sectors include education, healthcare, industrial, commercial, and residential developments. Projects range from small housing schemes to complex multi-storey buildings, with construction values typically between £250k and £30m.

    Experience and Skills

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural engineering, with proven experience leading teams and delivering complex projects. Strong design capability across steel, timber, masonry, and reinforced concrete is essential, along with a good working knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles. Experience working within a BIM Level 2 environment and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are also required.

    Qualifications

You will be Chartered as a Structural Engineer or actively working towards chartership and hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

    Personal Attributes

You will be a confident leader with strong team management skills, self-motivated and capable of working independently, and an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. A client-focused approach and a passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers are key to success in this role.

    What’s on Offer

They offer a competitive salary and benefits package, company pension scheme, healthcare and wellbeing, ongoing professional development and training, and clear career progression within a supportive and collaborative environment
