How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Product Controller (EMEA Equities - Business Finance and Control)

    London/Hybrid

    6 months contract

    Day Rate £500 via Umbrella Company

    Role Overview

    An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Product Controller to join a high-performing EMEA Equities Business Finance & Control team. This role supports a complex Equity Exotics business and requires a strong blend of Product Control and Valuation Control expertise. Working Monday to Friday you will be office based 3 days a week with the remainder working from home. Standard office hours with the occasional out of hours in line with business need.

    The position sits within a dynamic environment where technical understanding of complex, non-linear products is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to operate across both daily controllership processes and valuation frameworks, while partnering closely with Front Office and senior stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Product Control

    Produce and analyse daily P&L, ensuring accuracy, completeness and clear attribution
    Perform P&L substantiation, variance analysis and FOBO reconciliation
    Conduct detailed balance sheet reviews and substantiation
    Partner with trading desks to explain P&L drivers, risks and market movementsValuation & Control

    Execute Independent Price Verification (IPV) and valuation control processes
    Apply and challenge valuation methodologies, model inputs and assumptions
    Perform fair value hierarchy classification and prudent valuation reporting
    Investigate valuation discrepancies and provide robust challenge and resolutionFinancial & Regulatory Reporting

    Support reporting under IFRS and US GAAP frameworks
    Ensure adherence to valuation governance, regulatory and control frameworks
    Contribute to financial disclosures and regulatory submissionsRisk & Analysis

    Develop a strong understanding of complex financial products and associated risks
    Link product risk, valuation changes and P&L movements
    Provide analytical insight to support business decision-making

    Skills & Experience

    Proven experience across both Product Control AND Valuation Control
    Strong hands-on experience in:
    Daily P&L production, substantiation and balance sheet control
    IPV, valuation adjustments and fair value frameworks
    Experience working in a front office-aligned environment, partnering with Trading and Risk
    Strong understanding of complex financial instruments, particularly:
    Equity derivatives / exotics (preferred)
    OR transferable experience in non-linear rates, structured products or exotic derivatives
    Ability to understand and challenge valuation methodologies and model outputs
    Equities experience is preferred but not essential
    Candidates with backgrounds in:
    Rates (non-linear/exotics)
    Structured products
    Credit / multi-asset exotics
    will be considered where technical skillset is transferable
    Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and control focus
    Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
    Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
    Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable picking up new product areas quickly
    Strong team player aligned to a collaborative, high-performing culture
