How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Transport Coordinator

    Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 + Quarterly Bonus
    Location: Alton
    Hours: Mon-Fri, 7am-5pm

    Full-time, Permanent Position

    Our client is seeking an organised and proactive Transport Coordinator to support the efficient day-to-day operation of transport and logistics activities. Working closely with the Transport Manager, Customer Service Team, Depot Managers, and Drivers, you will play a key role in coordinating deliveries and collections, ensuring customer requirements are met, and supporting overall transport performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional service within a fast-paced operational environment.

    The Key Responsibilities of the Transport Coordinator:
    Transport Operations
    * Assist the Transport Manager in organising customer deliveries and collections efficiently and effectively.
    * Work closely with sales teams, depot managers, and customer service colleagues to coordinate transport activities.
    * Manage agency timesheets and raise purchase orders where required.
    * Answer and direct incoming calls, responding promptly to ETA enquiries and customer queries.
    * Act as the main point of contact for drivers, resolving issues and escalating matters to the appropriate department where necessary.
    * Monitor incoming sales orders and collections to ensure efficient planning and execution.
    * Manage failed or errored orders, ensuring they are regenerated and communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
    * Verify orders are allocated to the correct depot and liaise with purchasing regarding stock discrepancies or shortages.
    * Use routing software to plan delivery schedules and routes for all depots within required timeframes.
    * Liaise with Depot Managers to resolve operational and transport-related issues and ensure customer expectations are met.
    * Support the Transport Manager with additional operational tasks as required.
    Reporting & Administration
    * Maintain and update transport analysis and performance records.
    * Report incidents and accidents in line with company procedures.
    * Monitor and report on delivery performance and returned material authorisations (RMAs).
    Compliance & Safety
    * Follow all company health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
    * Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with company policies.
    * Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute positively to team performance.

    The Key Requirements of the Transport Coordinator:
    Essential:
    * Strong organisational and communication skills.
    * Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    * Ability to work effectively within a team and manage multiple priorities.
    * Current valid driving licence.
    Desirable:
    * Previous transport, logistics, or scheduling experience.
    * Good geographical knowledge.
    * Experience using transport and routing systems such as Maxoptra, TomTom, or INTACT.
