MANUFACTURING PROJECT ENGINEER - STOCKPORT, CHESHIRE- PERMANENT - UP TO £60,000 - SECTOR: PRECISION ENGINEERING
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex, high-integrity manufacturing projects within Defence, Nuclear, and Aerospace environments. This role sits within a safety-critical setting and focuses on coordinating engineering activities from contract award through to final delivery, ensuring full alignment with technical, quality, and security requirements.
You will play a key role in bringing structure and clarity to project delivery, working closely with customers, internal teams, and supply chain partners to ensure smooth execution and consistent progress against agreed milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Manage engineering activity across projects from initiation through to completion
Act as a trusted technical interface between customers, internal teams, and supply chain partners
Develop and maintain clear project plans, schedules, and progress updates to support delivery visibility
Support the achievement of milestones on time, within scope, and within budget
Interpret customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements with accuracy and care
Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and production readiness
Review and approve engineering documentation, including manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and inspection plans
Support resolution of technical issues during manufacturing and assembly, working collaboratively to find practical solutions
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and nuclear standards including ISO 19443, alongside customer-specific requirements
Support audits and ensure documentation and traceability are maintained to a high standard
Assist with cost tracking, change control, and contract variations
Identify and support proactive management of project risks
Work closely with production, procurement, and suppliers to ensure material availability and process alignment
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing activities
Handle sensitive technical information with care, maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with security clearance and export control requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable
Experience working within regulated industries such as Defence, Nuclear, or Aerospace
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings
Familiarity with Defence and/or Nuclear standards
Experience using ERP/MRP systems
