How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
    Cambridgeshire
    Up to £58,000

Looking for a night shift role where you're trusted to make decisions, work within a close-knit engineering team and be recognised for what you do?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturer producing products you'll almost certainly recognise. With a genuine family feel, low staff turnover and a supportive engineering culture, you'll become part of a business where everyone knows your name-not just your employee number.

    What's in it for you?

    Up to £58,000 salary
Get off of the long 12 hour shifts.
Family-feel culture with a supportive, close-knit engineering team
Well-known household brand with a stable, growing business
Varied role combining reactive maintenance, PPMs and continuous improvement
Opportunity to work with modern manufacturing equipment and automation
    The Role
As the Night Maintenance Engineer, you'll be the primary engineering support during the night shift, taking ownership of breakdowns and ensuring production equipment is running at peak performance ready for the next day's operation.
    You'll be responsible for:

Responding quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs)
Driving continuous improvement projects to improve reliability
Supporting hygiene teams with equipment strip-downs and rebuilds
Fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems
Maintaining engineering records and spare parts
Working closely with production to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency
Promoting high standards of health & safety and housekeeping (5S)
    What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Shift Engineer within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
    You'll have:

A recognised Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics and industrial machinery
The confidence to work independently and make decisions
A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset

    Interested?
If you're looking for a stable business, excellent earning potential and a team that genuinely looks after its engineers, we'd love to hear from you.
