How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Coordinate mechanical site teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers.
    * Manage procurement activities, ensuring materials, plant, and equipment are ordered and delivered in line with programme requirements.
    * Monitor project costs, labour allocations, subcontractor accounts, and variations to ensure commercial targets and margins are achieved.
    * Work closely with the commercial team to identify, price, and submit variations and change requests.
    * Review mechanical designs, technical specifications, drawings, and BIM information to identify risks, clashes, and value engineering opportunities.
    * Attend and lead project meetings with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal stakeholders.
    * Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, public health, fire protection, and other building services disciplines.
    * Ensure all mechanical installations comply with project specifications, industry standards, and statutory regulations.
    * Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all project activities.
    * Manage testing, commissioning, witnessing, and validation processes for mechanical systems.
    * Ensure timely production and submission of O&M manuals, as built drawings, commissioning records, and handover documentation.
    * Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation measures.
    * Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners.
    Mechanical Project Manager Requirements
    * Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within an M&E subcontractor, building services contractor, or specialist mechanical contractor environment.
    * Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, air conditioning, ventilation, heating, pipework, public health, and mechanical building services systems.
    * Experience delivering mechanical packages on commercial fit out, office refurbishment, mixed use, healthcare, education, or commercial construction projects.
    * Demonstrable experience managing projects ranging from £500k to £10m+ in value.
    * Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, subcontract accounts, variations, and cost reporting.
    * Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
    * Experience coordinating with main contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
    * Excellent planning, organisational, negotiation, and communication skills.
    * Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
    * Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
    * Relevant mechanical or building services qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent) desirable.
