How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you a graduate or career-changer thinking about getting into teaching or working in schools? Not quite ready to commit to a PGCE or teacher training course yet? The Cover Supervisor Programme with Vision for Education offers a practical, paid way to gain valuable classroom experience in secondary schools while keeping your future options open.

Vision for Education is recruiting aspiring educators to join our Cover Supervisor Programme, supporting secondary schools and building the skills, confidence, and experience needed for teacher training or long-term careers in education.

    Why Work in Schools?

Working in schools provides hands-on experience that can’t be gained elsewhere. As part of the Cover Supervisor Programme, you will develop:

Confidence leading classes of young people

    Strong communication and leadership skills

    Classroom and behaviour management experience

Knowledge of safeguarding and school systems

Experience that strengthens PGCE and teacher training applications

A clear understanding of whether teaching is the right career for you

    About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom when the teacher is absent, ensuring learning continues throughout the school day.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Supervising classes of approximately 25–30 secondary pupils

Delivering pre-planned lessons (no subject specialism required)

Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

Taking registers and following school policies

    Providing feedback to teaching staff

This role offers flexible daily supply work alongside opportunities for longer fixed-term placements, making it ideal for those planning future study or a career change into education.

    Cover Supervisor Programme

No previous teaching experience is required. Vision for Education’s Cover Supervisor Programme is designed specifically for people looking to get into teaching or work in schools.

    The programme supports you with:

    Training focused on classroom management

Safeguarding and professional expectations in schools

    Building confidence leading lessons

Ongoing guidance from experienced education consultants

This structured programme helps prepare candidates for PGCE courses, SCITT routes, and other teacher training options.

    Who This Role Is For

This opportunity is well suited to:

Graduates considering teacher training or a PGCE

Career changers exploring education as a new direction

Individuals interested in working with young people

Those seeking paid experience in secondary schools before committing to training

    Requirements

To be considered, you will need:

A degree in any subject (or equivalent qualification)

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Confidence and a willingness to learn

A genuine interest in education and supporting young people

Eligibility to work in the UK and a DBS (or willingness to apply)

What Vision for Education Offers You

As part of Vision for Education’s Cover Supervisor Programme, you will receive:

Excellent daily rates, paid weekly via the PAYE system

A Guaranteed Pay Scheme (subject to availability)

Access to CPD and Cover Supervisor training

    Pension contributions

    Social and networking events

A dedicated consultant to support your journey into education

Vision for Education operates as an MSP and a Lot 2 provider on the CCS framework, supporting secondary schools with high-quality staff while offering compliant and well-supported routes into education careers.
