How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Software Engineer
    Salary: £50,000-£55,000 (flexible depending on experience)
    Location: Bedfordshire (Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire Border)

    This is an opportunity with a market-leading manufacturer of advanced food processing equipment and systems, supplying customers across the UK and worldwide.
    Due to continued growth in both domestic and international markets, the business is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join their specialist software team.
    This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge food processing equipment and automation systems, including the development and programming of robotic applications. You'll be involved throughout the project life cycle, from software development and commissioning to supporting installations around the world.
    Software Engineer - What You'll Be Doing
    ·Developing and programming PLC and HMI control systems
    ·Supporting machine commissioning and start-up activities
    ·Working with robotics, conveyor systems and automated production equipment
    ·Developing and supporting software solutions for customers worldwide
    ·Collaborating with engineering teams to deliver innovative automation projects
    Software Engineer - What We're Looking For
    Experience in some or all of the following:
    ·PLC and HMI programming (Mitsubishi experience desirable but not essential)
    ·Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens or Omron control systems
    ·Structured Text programming
    ·Industrial communications including Profinet, Profibus and EtherNet/IP
    ·Machine commissioning, packaging systems, conveyor systems or robotics
    ·High-level programming languages such as C#, C++, Java, VB or Python
