How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Scope of Work

    • Supervise daily site activities for all civil works across a large-scale grid infrastructure project, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, ducting, access roads, reinforced concrete structures, cable trenches, fencing, and general balance of plant works.

    • Coordinate and oversee site operatives and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with drawings, specifications, programme requirements, and quality expectations.

    • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards, site rules, permit-to-work systems, and safe systems of work.

    • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with site coordination, progress reporting, quality inspections, contractor management, and interface management across multiple work packages.

    • Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain safe working practices and promote a strong safety culture on site.

    • Monitor progress and workmanship to ensure all civil activities are delivered to programme and in accordance with project specifications and engineering standards.

    • Complete and maintain site documentation including daily diaries, inspections, permits, quality records, ITPs, and progress updates.

    • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and logistics teams to coordinate plant, labour, materials, and deliveries to site.

    • Identify and escalate any risks, delays, design clashes, or non-conformances to the Site Manager and wider project team to minimise programme impact.

    • Support interface management with electrical, commissioning, and wider construction teams to ensure smooth project delivery and alignment across disciplines.

    Experience to be Considered

    • Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor on grid, substation, transmission, distribution, utilities, renewables, or major infrastructure projects.

    • Strong understanding of civil construction activities associated with grid infrastructure including foundations, ducting, drainage, reinforced concrete, earthworks, access roads, and cable route installation.

    • Previous experience working on National Grid, DNO, substation, or HV infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous.

    • Experience supervising subcontractors and multi-disciplinary site teams within fast-paced construction environments.

    • Strong working knowledge of HSEQ procedures, RAMS, permit-to-work systems, temporary works, and safe systems of work.

    • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain a strong site presence and proactively drive works forward.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure project on a long-term basis.

This is a 12-month renewable contract and falls outside IR35.
