How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Remote Town Planner (Part-Time or Full-Time)

    Location: Remote
    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

    The Opportunity

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Town Planner to join a well-established and growing planning consultancy. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely while becoming part of a supportive and collaborative team delivering a diverse range of planning projects across the UK.

    Whether you are seeking a part-time position to fit around other commitments or a full-time role with long-term career progression, this opportunity can be tailored to suit the right candidate.

    The Role

    As a Town Planner, you will be responsible for managing planning applications, providing strategic planning advice, and supporting clients through the planning process from inception to determination.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
    Conducting planning policy research and site appraisals
    Producing planning statements and supporting reports
    Liaising with local authorities, consultees, and stakeholders
    Advising clients on planning risks and opportunities
    Managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively
    Supporting business development activities where appropriate

    About You

    The successful candidate will possess:

    A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
    MRTPI status or working towards chartership (preferred)
    Previous experience within a planning consultancy, local authority, or developer environment
    Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
    Excellent report writing and communication skills
    The ability to work independently while remaining a proactive team player
    Strong organisational and project management skills
