How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Echelon Engineers is recruiting a Factory Manager on behalf of a well-established precision manufacturing company based in Wolverhampton. The client's name is being withheld at this stage, but they supply high-precision components into the aerospace sector, working across plastic, steel, and sheet metal materials using a combination of CNC machinery and skilled manual processes.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced manufacturing professional who can manage day-to-day workshop operations, drive quality and efficiency, and support the development of a skilled production team.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the workshop, overseeing a team of 20 production staff

    * Manage and support a Foreman, who will report directly into this role and assist with shop-floor supervision

    * Oversee production scheduling across both CNC machining and manual finishing processes to ensure on-time delivery

    * Maintain consistently high standards of quality, ensuring components meet the exacting requirements of aerospace customers

    * Monitor and manage workflow across plastic, steel, and sheet metal production lines

    * Ensure health and safety standards are upheld throughout the workshop at all times

    * Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and streamline processes

    * Manage staffing levels, training needs, and performance within the workshop team

    * Liaise with other departments (e.g. quality, planning, engineering) to ensure smooth production flow

    * Maintain accurate production, quality, and compliance records as required for aerospace industry standards

    What We're Looking For

    * Proven experience managing a manufacturing or workshop team, ideally within a precision engineering or aerospace supply environment

    * Strong working knowledge of both CNC machining and manual production processes

    * Experience working with a mix of materials such as plastic, steel, and sheet metal is highly desirable

    * Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to manage and develop a Foreman and wider team

    * A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to problem-solve on the shop floor

    * Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a manufacturing setting

    * Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (e.g. AS9100) would be an advantage

    Working Pattern

    * Full-time, 5 days per week, fully site-based in Wolverhampton

    * Standard working hours

    £40000.00 - £50000.00 per year
