How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Junior IT Support Technician – Derby – £24,000 to £26,000

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Junior IT Support Technician to join a growing and forward-thinking organisation in Derby. Working within a busy and dynamic environment, you'll play a key role in supporting the company's technology infrastructure and assisting colleagues with day-to-day IT issues.

    This is a hands-on position where you'll be actively involved across the business rather than spending all your time at a desk. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about technology, eager to learn, and committed to delivering excellent support.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide first-line technical support and resolve user issues efficiently
    Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and business system problems
    Prepare, configure, and recover equipment for new starters and departing employees
    Ensure meeting room technology and audiovisual equipment are fully operational
    Support IT improvement initiatives, upgrades, and deployment projects
    Maintain accurate IT documentation, records, and asset inventories
    Skills and Experience Required

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    Passion for technology and a proactive approach to problem-solving
    Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain composed in a busy environment
    Positive attitude with a willingness to support colleagues across the business
    Full UK driving licence
    Desirable Knowledge

    Previous experience using IT service desk or ticket management systems
    Understanding of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
    Basic networking knowledge
    Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
