How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal Flood Risk Consultant
    Location: Flexible UK Locations
    Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

    Join a leading consultancy as a Principal Flood Risk Consultant and play a pivotal role in shaping flood risk management across diverse sectors.

    The Opportunity
    As a Principal Flood Risk Consultant, you'll collaborate with clients and design teams, leading flood risk management projects in Aviation, Defense, Energy, Cities & Development, Education, Rail, and Water sectors. You'll be part of a Water Management Consultancy practice, where your expertise in hydraulic modelling, hydrology, and GIS will be highly valued.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Lead technical work in flood risk management, focusing on hydraulic modelling, hydrology, and GIS.
    - Mentor and guide junior staff, ensuring quality assurance for technical deliverables.
    - Develop and test project solutions for flood mitigation.
    - Manage and supervise junior resources, supporting project managers and directors.
    - Engage in business development activities, including tendering and client engagement.

    Candidate Requirements
    - Extensive experience in delivering flood risk projects with a focus on hydraulic modelling.
    - Proficient in 1D-2D modelling using InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, and GIS tools.
    - Strong leadership skills with experience in developing and leading technical teams.
    - Excellent decision-making abilities and organizational skills.
    - Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
