How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Design Engineer
    £45-50k + Pension, Annual Bonus, 30 Days Holiday
    Lancashire. Ref: 25514
    This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be a part of a growing and innovative engineering business developing materials handling projects for customers across the food and beverage sector.
    The Role:
    From concept design and product development through to build support and commissioning, this varied position offers the opportunity to get involved in:
    * Designing bespoke machinery, automation equipment, conveyors and handling systems
    * Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor
    * Developing practical, cost-effective and manufacturable engineering solutions
    * Supporting R&D activities, prototyping and new machine development
    * Working on sheet metal, stainless steel fabrication and automation-focused projects
    * Collaborating with production, service and project teams throughout the project life cycle
    * Providing technical support during machine build, testing and installation
    * Troubleshooting design and manufacturing challenges
    * Contributing ideas to improve machine performance, reliability and build quality
    * Supporting projects from concept through to customer delivery
    The following experience would be particularly beneficial:
    * Conveyor design experience
    * Prototype testing and product validation
    * Stainless steel fabrication knowledge
    * Inventor 3D design
