How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £65-£75k+ Package (DOE)
    Job Type: Full-Time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering high-value projects across the UK power and utilities sector.

This is a commercially important role within a fast-paced project environment, supporting the delivery of complex electrical infrastructure works including substations, grid connections, renewable energy schemes, and industrial power projects.

The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial management across multiple live projects, ensuring cost control, accurate forecasting, and strong contractual management from tender through to final account.

    The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and financial management of project delivery, working closely with operational teams, project managers, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual obligations.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Managing cost control across multiple live projects

    * Preparing, reviewing, and managing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts

    * Procurement and management of subcontractor packages

    * Reviewing and managing contract terms, variations, and change control

    * Supporting tendering and pricing activities where required

    * Monitoring project budgets, forecasting, and cash flow

    * Identifying commercial risks and opportunities across projects

    * Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams

    * Ensuring accurate commercial reporting and financial documentation

    * Supporting dispute resolution and contractual negotiations when required

    About You

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial awareness and proven experience working within construction, engineering, utilities, or infrastructure environments.

    Essential Experience

    * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, utilities, electrical, or infrastructure sectors

    * Strong understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g. NEC, JCT or similar)

    * Experience managing subcontractor packages and procurement processes

    * Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage cost, risk, and change effectively

    * Excellent communication and negotiation skills

    * Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

    * Strong IT and reporting skills (Excel and commercial management systems)

    Desirable

    * Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management

    * Membership or working towards RICS (not essential but advantageous)

    * Experience within HV electrical, utilities, or energy projects

    What’s on Offer

    * Competitive salary depending on experience

    * Hybrid working arrangement with UK-wide project exposure

    * Company vehicle or travel allowance (where applicable)

    * Private healthcare

    * Pension scheme

    * Career development and progression opportunities within a growing business

    * Exposure to major infrastructure and energy projects across the UK

This is a strong opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of challenging projects within a growing and ambitious organisation.
