How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Our client is a well-established and growing residential developer specialising in the delivery of high-quality bespoke and luxury homes across the North West. With a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and premium specification, the business has successfully delivered a range of exclusive residential developments that combine innovative design with outstanding build quality.

    Focused on creating homes that exceed customer expectations, the company continues to expand its portfolio of new build housing developments through a commitment to quality, customer service, and sustainable growth. Due to continued success and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to support their commercial and operational teams.

    The Role

    We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join the business on a part-time basis, working two days per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with new build housing experience to play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of residential developments.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract packages, ensuring best value is achieved while maintaining quality, programme requirements, and supplier relationships.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage the procurement of materials and subcontract packages for new build housing developments
    Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value and commercial advantage
    Prepare and issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors
    Obtain and analyse quotations and pricing proposals
    Place purchase orders and monitor supplier performance
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
    Ensure materials are procured in line with project programmes and site requirements
    Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and supply chain risks
    Work closely with commercial, technical, and operational teams
    Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
    Support cost-saving initiatives and value engineering opportunities

    Requirements

    Previous experience within a Buyer or Procurement role within the construction industry
    New build housing experience is essential
    Strong understanding of construction materials and supply chains
    Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors
    Excellent commercial awareness and organisational skills
    Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and procurement systems
    Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders

    Desirable:

    Experience working for a housebuilder or residential developer
    Knowledge of procurement processes within residential construction
    Experience sourcing materials for bespoke or luxury housing developments
    Understanding of subcontract procurement and package buying
