How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Designer

    Job Type: Permanent

    Location: Kent Commutable from Ramsgate, Margate, Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable

    Salary: Up to £35,000

    Long established engineering firm seek a skilled Mechanical Designer to join the team. Working for a firm who design and manufacture electro-mechanical devices in the UK, you will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in designing and developing innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges. This role requires proficiency in various design software and tools, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.

    Responsibilities

    Develop detailed mechanical designs and schematics using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
    Utilise SolidWorks and other design tools to create 3D models and assemblies.
    Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
    Collaborate with engineers and technicians to integrate logic controllers into mechanical systems.
    Perform simulations using MATLAB and Simulink to validate design concepts.
    Apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate specifications and tolerances in designs.

    Qualifications - Mechanical Designer

    Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, is essential.
    Experience with LabView for system integration is advantageous.
    Strong understanding of mechanical principles and components.
    Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques is preferred.
    Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink for modelling and simulation tasks is beneficial.
    Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.

    The role will suit individuals currently working as Mechanical Designer and be living within a commutable distance of Kent Commutable from Ramsgate, Margate, Dover, Canterbury, Whitstable or be willing to relocate.
