How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Head of Economics

    Redbridge, East London

    September 2026 Start

    Full-Time | Permanent

    Pay: MPS/UPS + TLR (Dependent on Experience)

    Principal Education is working on behalf of a high-achieving and well-respected secondary school in East London to recruit an outstanding Head of Economics for a September 2026 start.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Economics teacher looking to take the next step into leadership, or for an existing Head of Economics seeking a new challenge within a supportive and academically successful environment.

    The successful candidate will lead the Economics provision across Key Stages 4 and 5, driving exceptional outcomes and fostering a culture of academic excellence.

    The Role

    As Head of Economics, you will:

    Lead and manage the Economics curriculum across KS4 and KS5.
    Deliver outstanding Economics lessons that inspire and challenge students.
    Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies.
    Lead curriculum planning, assessment and quality assurance within the department.
    Support and develop colleagues through coaching and sharing best practice.
    Promote high standards of teaching, learning and achievement.
    Contribute to the wider academic and enrichment programme of the school.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    Has a strong academic background in Economics or a related discipline.
    Demonstrates a proven track record of securing excellent student outcomes.
    Has experience teaching Economics at A-Level.
    Possesses strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
    Is passionate about developing a high-performing department and inspiring students to achieve their full potential.
