How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Food Technology Teacher

    Start: September 2026

    Location: Waterlooville

    Salary: MPR/UPR

    Teaching Personnel are seeking a Teacher of Food Technology to join a well-regarded secondary school in the Waterlooville area, catering to students aged 11 to 16. The school prides itself on providing a well-rounded education that balances academic rigor with personal development.

    With approximately 1,000 students on roll, the school offers a broad and engaging curriculum designed to challenge learners and prepare them for future success. Alongside academic study, students benefit from a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including sports, arts, and clubs, enhancing their overall experience.

    The Role:

    The school is seeking a Teacher of Food Technology to join the team from September 2026. This is a maternity cover position for one academic year, with the potential to become a permanent role depending on the needs of the school.  This role is offered on a full-time basis, although 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) may be considered for the right candidate.

    The successful candidate will:

    Teach Food Technology across KS3 and KS4
    Deliver engaging, practical lessons in well-equipped specialist food rooms
    Take on full teaching responsibilities, including planning and marking
    Teach classes typically ranging from 15–30 students, depending on year group and subject choices
    You will be supported by an experienced Head of Department (overseeing Science and Technology) and a dedicated technician, ensuring a collaborative and well-resourced teaching environment. There may also be opportunities for transition days prior to September to support a smooth start.

    A qualified teacher with a strong background in Food Technology or Design & Technology
    Enthusiasm for delivering engaging, practical, and interactive lessons
    Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
