How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Software Developer (C# / .NET)
Location: Crewe or Chester (2 days per week onsite)

This is a chance to join a growing software team developing systems that sit at the heart of complex, real-world operations. The organisation specialises in building practical, reliable technology used daily by businesses operating in demanding environments.

Their work is shaped by deep industry understanding. The systems you help build won’t be abstract or theoretical; they will directly support how organisations plan, manufacture and deliver products at scale.
The focus is on clarity, reliability and continuous improvement.

You will play a key role in developing and enhancing core applications, contributing to solutions that need to perform consistently under pressure and adapt as requirements evolve.

    Core experience required:

Commercial experience using C# and the .NET framework (ideally .NET Core).
Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly SQL Server.
Experience working with or understanding of APIs and service-based design.
A thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to development.
Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Helpful but not essential:

Exposure to Azure or an interest in cloud technologies.
Some experience with frontend or web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript or similar).
Awareness of CI/CD practices or containerisation tools. This is not a role built around hype or short-term delivery. It is an opportunity to do careful, considered engineering work that makes a measurable difference. You’ll be trusted to contribute, supported as you grow, and given the space to develop both depth and breadth in your skills.

If you are a software developer who values quality, learning and practical impact, this role offers a strong next step
