How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Town Planner

    Ipswich, Suffolk

    Our client is a well-established and highly respected property and building consultancy operating across East Anglia. Due to continued growth within their Planning team, they are seeking a Town Planner (ideally Chartered) to join their Ipswich office.

    This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a multidisciplinary practice offering planning, architecture, surveying and development consultancy services across a broad range of residential, commercial, agricultural and mixed-use projects. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality advice and securing successful planning outcomes throughout the region.

    The Role

    Working as part of an experienced consultancy team, you will provide planning advice and project management support across a varied portfolio of developments. The role offers exposure to planning applications, appeals, site promotions, local plan representations and wider strategic planning projects.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Managing planning applications from inception through to determination
    Preparing planning statements, supporting documentation and development appraisals
    Providing strategic planning advice to private and commercial clients
    Liaising with local authorities, consultees and stakeholders
    Supporting planning appeals and enforcement matters
    Assisting with land promotion and Local Plan representation work
    Building and maintaining strong client relationships
    Contributing to business development and team growth initiatives

    About You

    The successful candidate is likely to have:

    MRTPI status (or be working towards chartership with significant relevant experience)
    Previous experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or multidisciplinary property environment
    Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy framework
    Excellent report-writing and communication skills
    Experience managing client relationships and multiple projects simultaneously
    A proactive and commercially aware approach
    Full UK driving licence
