How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Food Technology Teacher

    Location: Preston
    Contract: Full-time
    Start Date: September 2026
    Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
    Essential: QTS

    About the Role

    We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Preston from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to deliver high‑quality Food Technology lessons, inspire young people, and contribute to a successful and supportive department.

    The successful candidate will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4. You'll bring strong subject knowledge, a commitment to practical, engaging teaching, and the ability to motivate students of all abilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4
    Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning
    Prepare students for practical and written assessments
    Ensure safe and effective use of equipment and practical spaces
    Track, monitor, and report on student progress
    Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extra‑curricular activities
    Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement

    Requirements

    QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) – essential
    Experience teaching Food Technology in a UK school setting
    Strong classroom management skills
    Excellent communication, planning, and organisational abilities
    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
    Creativity and passion for developing students’ practical skills and confidence
