How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Behaviour Support Assistant

Do you have experience supporting individuals who display challenging behaviour?
Are you passionate about being a positive role model to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds?
Interested in an excellent weekly rate of pay from £462.80 – £543.20 per week?
Looking to access CPD training opportunities?
Company pension scheme and additional benefits available
Seeking a rewarding and challenging role?
Considering a long-term career in the education sector?
Vision for Education are actively recruiting individuals with a background in supporting adults or children who display social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) across the Cardiff area.

We work closely with a pupil referral unit (PRU) who are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils on both a 1:1 and small group basis.

Often, these pupils are labelled as the “naughty” children, which is rarely the full story. Many come from disadvantaged and challenging backgrounds, and school is their safe space — a place where positive role models like you can make a real and lasting difference.

The school is looking for someone who is genuinely interested in helping steer these pupils in the right direction and act as a positive influence. You will be expected to build strong relationships and de-escalate behaviours before situations escalate. If a pupil becomes agitated, the school encourages staff to take them out of the situation to help them regulate, calm down, and re-engage with learning.

This role will require you to think on your feet and use positive reinforcement strategies to get the best out of pupils. A Team Teach qualification (or equivalent) would be beneficial, but it is not essential, as full training can be provided.

    What the role will involve:

Working with primary and secondary aged pupils

    Building strong, trusting relationships

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

Being resilient and supporting pupils through difficult situations

Working alongside the class teacher to assess pupil needs and support learning in and out of the classroom

Encouraging pupils to work cooperatively with others and engage in activities

De-escalating situations and using positive reinforcement to promote learning

The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:

Previous experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour and SEMH needs

A Team Teach qualification or relevant training (e.g. PROACT-SCIP / MAPA) — desirable but not essential

An understanding of how to maintain a stimulating yet fun learning environment

Experience supporting primary or secondary aged pupils

A flexible, proactive, empathetic, and creative approach

The ability to remain patient, calm, and engaging under pressure

    Knowledge of the National Curriculum

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register

The school is known to offer permanent positions to individuals who demonstrate hard work, reliability, and dedication, making this a fantastic long-term opportunity.

We welcome applicants from support worker, care, sports, and education backgrounds.

If you come from a different background, but feel you would still be a strong fit for the role, we would still encourage you to apply.

If you would like more information or wish to apply for this position, please contact Chris on the number below or send a copy of your CV for consideration.

I look forward to hearing from you!
