How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER
Retail | Refrigeration | HVAC | Controls | Building Automation

    £75K + Bonus + Benefits

Let's get something out of the way.

We are not looking for an account manager who maintains turnover and calls it growth.

We are not looking for someone who spends their week taking customers to lunch and updating CRM notes.

We are looking for a commercially driven, technically credible Key Account Manager who can take ownership of a major retail account and grow it.

This is a strategic account management position within a market-leading engineering technology business supplying controls, automation and optimisation solutions into the refrigeration and HVAC sectors.

    The Opportunity

You'll inherit a significant retail account with an established revenue stream.

Your job isn't to protect it.

Your job is to grow it.

That means identifying opportunities, driving specification positions, influencing stakeholders, expanding solution adoption and ensuring the business remains the preferred technical partner rather than just another supplier.

You'll operate across contractors, OEMs, consultants, engineering teams and end users, building influence throughout the entire ecosystem surrounding the account.

This is not a transactional sales role.

This is long-cycle, technically complex, strategic account development.

    What You'll Be Responsible For

    • Developing and executing a long-term account growth strategy

    • Expanding revenue through controls upgrades, optimisation projects and lifecycle improvement initiatives

    • Driving specification and standardisation opportunities

    • Managing relationships across OEMs, contractors, consultants and customer stakeholders

    • Maintaining visibility of live projects and intervening when delivery risks emerge

    • Leading commercial negotiations and protecting margin

    • Building pipeline, forecasting accurately and maintaining structured account plans

    • Acting as the commercial owner of the account and its future growth

    What We Need

You'll come from a technical engineering environment and understand how complex systems are designed, installed and operated.

We are interested in people from backgrounds including:

    • Refrigeration

    • HVAC

    • Controls & Automation

    • Building Management Systems

    • Building Services Engineering

    • Electrical or Electronic Engineering

Most importantly, you'll be comfortable holding technical conversations with engineers whilst also operating commercially with senior decision makers.

You don't need to be the smartest engineer in the room.

But you do need enough technical credibility to challenge assumptions, influence decisions and create confidence.

    What Good Looks Like

You've grown existing accounts beyond their original scope.

    You've influenced specification decisions.

You've managed multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.

You've recovered projects when things started to go wrong.

You've protected revenue while simultaneously creating new opportunities.

You've taken ownership rather than waiting for somebody else to solve the problem.

    The Person

You'll probably recognise yourself in the following:

    • Commercially driven

    • Technically credible

    • Structured and organised

    • Comfortable challenging customers and stakeholders

    • Able to influence without authority

    • Naturally proactive

    • Strong pipeline and forecast discipline

    • Comfortable operating in complex engineering environments

This role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, technical leadership and customer influence.

If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely own an account, shape its future and be measured on results rather than activity, we'd like to hear from you
