How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Working Hours: Sunday to Wednesday, 8:00pm – 8:00am

    Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nightshift Supervisor to oversee night operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will lead and support a team of production operatives, manage workflow in line with production plans, promote a strong health and safety culture, and ensure all operational and quality procedures are consistently followed.

Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, this position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor looking to develop their career within a growing manufacturing business.

    Key Responsibilities

The Nightshift Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and supporting production operatives throughout the night shift, ensuring workloads and resources are allocated effectively to meet production requirements. The role includes conducting performance reviews, supporting employee development, managing attendance and absence, carrying out return-to-work interviews, approving holidays, and assisting with disciplinary procedures where necessary. The successful candidate will train, mentor, and develop team members while promoting a positive, productive, and professional working environment.

A key part of the role involves communicating daily production plans and priorities to the team, monitoring progress against production schedules, and ensuring the efficient use of labour and equipment. The supervisor will be expected to address production issues promptly to minimise downtime, support the movement of materials between production and warehouse areas, accurately record production outputs and waste figures, and provide detailed shift handovers and performance updates to management.

The role also requires leading by example in promoting a strong safety-first culture. The successful candidate will ensure all employees follow health, safety, and environmental procedures, support risk assessments and safe systems of work, and contribute to continuous safety improvements. Maintaining high housekeeping standards through a clean-as-you-go approach, ensuring visitors and contractors comply with site safety requirements, and identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and safety concerns will also form part of the position.

In addition, the Nightshift Supervisor will ensure products are manufactured in accordance with quality standards and specifications while maintaining compliance with site procedures, work instructions, and operational standards. The role includes completing and maintaining production and quality documentation accurately, supporting investigations into quality concerns, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring adherence to production processes and quality requirements.

The successful candidate will also identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety. They will participate in continuous improvement projects, support the implementation of new processes, assist with root cause investigations and problem-solving activities, and contribute to achieving operational performance targets.

    Skills and Experience Required

Applicants should have previous supervisory experience within a manufacturing or production environment and experience working within a fast-paced production setting. Strong leadership, people management, communication, and organisational skills are essential, along with good analytical and problem-solving abilities. Candidates must be able to work independently, make effective decisions, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and maintain a high commitment to quality. Competent IT and PC skills are required, together with a flexible and proactive approach to work.

    Desirable Qualifications and Training

A Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate. A First Aid qualification, IOSH Health & Safety training, HACCP awareness, food or manufacturing compliance training, and experience with continuous improvement methodologies would also be beneficial.

    What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary, ongoing training, and opportunities for career development and progression within a supportive and collaborative working environment. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within a growing manufacturing operation and make a direct contribution to its continued success.

If you are an experienced production supervisor looking for your next challenge and enjoy leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we would love to hear from you
