How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Main Contractor

    Location: West Malling

    Day rate: £230 - £250 / day

    Start: Mid July 2026

    The Opportunity:

    An established and growing construction business is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join its operational team and oversee the successful delivery of a range of school refurbishment and education-sector projects.

    Working across a portfolio of live educational environments, including classroom refurbishments, staff room upgrades, reception area renovations, welfare facilities, specialist teaching spaces, and general school improvement works, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.     Key Responsibilities:

    Manage the day-to-day running of school refurbishment projects from inception through to completion.
    Lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to school operations.
    Plan and manage works within live educational environments, maintaining a safe and secure site at all times.
    Monitor programme performance and proactively address any issues impacting project delivery.
    Maintain high standards of quality throughout all stages of refurbishment and fit-out works.
    Ensure compliance with all current health and safety legislation, safeguarding requirements, company procedures, and industry regulations.
    Coordinate material deliveries, plant requirements, and site logistics within constrained and operational school settings.
    Liaise with school representatives, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project progression.
    Manage inspections, snagging processes, and quality control procedures through to successful handover.
    Support the commercial and project management teams in achieving successful project outcomes.
    Ensure all project documentation, permits, and site records are maintained accurately and efficiently.
    Experience:

    Previous experience working as a Site Manager within a main contractor environment.
    Proven track record delivering refurbishment, fit-out, or construction projects within live educational, public sector, or occupied environments.
    Experience managing school refurbishment projects, including classrooms, staff rooms, reception areas, toilets, teaching spaces, and associated facilities.
    Strong leadership and people management skills.
    Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
    Sound understanding of refurbishment methodologies, programming, and site logistics.
    Good knowledge of current health and safety legislation and best practice.
    Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain positive working relationships within occupied school environments.
