How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Do you have extensive PRAM or RAM engineering experience?

Are you an engineer with experience in reliability, systems engineering or assurance looking to play a key role across an entire railway network?

Salary: £55,687.20 to £70,755.60 (depending on experience)
Location: London or Birmingham, 3 days in office per week
    Closing Date: 5th July

This is an opportunity to work on HS2 and support the delivery of a world-class railway, working across stations, track, signalling, telecommunications, rolling stock and depots.

You'll become part of a small but highly influential PRAM team responsible for assuring Performance, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability activities across multiple major contracts. This role offers exposure to a huge variety of systems and the chance to contribute to innovative approaches using data, AI and digital tools to improve railway performance and maintenance strategies.

As a PRAM Engineer, you will support assurance activities across approximately 20 major contracts, reviewing deliverables and ensuring requirements are being met throughout the design and delivery process. Working closely with contractors, SMEs and internal stakeholders, you'll challenge assumptions, review modelling outputs and provide technical input to support informed decisions.

    Essential Requirements

Degree qualified in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Civil or Systems Engineering.
Around 3-5 years' experience within rail or other highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with BS EN 50126 and associated assurance processes.
Experience working on large infrastructure or complex engineering projects.
Understanding of reliability, availability and maintainability principles.
Experience reviewing technical documentation and contractor submissions.
Knowledge of technical modelling and analysis techniques.
Awareness of CDM principles and wider systems engineering processes.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Associate membership or working towards membership with a professional institution such as the IET, IMechE or ICE.
    Desirable Experience

Previous PRAM, RAM or Systems Engineering experience.
Experience within contractor or client-side organisations.
Backgrounds in defence, aerospace, automotive or other complex engineering sectors.
Experience supporting asset integration and whole-system performance.
Knowledge of railway systems including rolling stock, signalling, telecoms, stations or depots.
If you're interested in shaping the performance and reliability of the UK's future railway, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today or get in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail ()
