How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    EA Associates are working on behalf of a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to take the next step in their career or an established Senior Estimator seeking a fully remote position with a respected contractor delivering major infrastructure and earthworks projects across the UK.

    The business operates across a range of civil engineering sectors, undertaking large-scale earthworks, enabling works, highways, infrastructure and major civil engineering schemes for both public and private sector clients.

    The Role

    You will take responsibility for managing the tendering process from initial enquiry through to final submission, ensuring competitive and commercially viable bids are produced.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for major civil engineering and earthworks projects.

    * Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract documentation.

    * Obtaining and analysing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

    * Identifying project risks and opportunities during the tender process.

    * Liaising with clients, consultants and internal departments to develop winning bid strategies.

    * Attending tender review meetings and handovers with operational teams.

    * Supporting business development activities and maintaining strong client relationships.

    Requirements

    * Proven experience working as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the civil engineering sector.

    * Strong understanding of earthworks, infrastructure and major civils projects.

    * Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation.

    * Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.

    * Strong communication and organisational skills.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    What's on Offer

    * Fully remote working arrangement.

    * Competitive salary dependent on experience.

    * Attractive benefits package.

    * Long-term career progression opportunities.

    * Opportunity to work on major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK.

    * Supportive and forward-thinking management team.
