How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Children’s Mentor (full time, temporary)
    Salford
    £475 - £525 per week PAYE (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)
    Start date:  September 2026

    The School and Role
    We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Children’s Mentor who is committed to making a lasting difference in young people’s lives. This is a powerful opportunity to work with vulnerable young people who need positive role models, structure, and encouragement to succeed.

    In this role, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students rebuild confidence, and re-engage with learning. You will play a vital part in improving attendance, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes.

    Working alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff, you will see the real impact of your work every day. If you are motivated by helping others grow, this role offers genuine personal and professional fulfilment.

    Requirements (Please Apply Only If You Meet the Below)
    The ideal Children’s Mentor will have:

    A calm, positive, and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviour
    Strong empathy and the ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils
    A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, or complex backgrounds
    Previous experience in education, youth work, mentoring, alternative provision, PRU, or pastoral support
    A strong belief in safeguarding and child protection
    Most importantly, you will be inspired by seeing young people develop in confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve their potential.
