How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
    Salary: £50,000 + Car Allowance
    Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

    Estimator – Civil Engineering

    We are looking for an experienced and motivated Estimator to join our clients growing civil engineering team based in Bridgwater. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in securing a diverse range of infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the South West.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders, analysing project costs, and supporting the business in winning profitable work.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
    Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
    Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
    Produce bills of quantities, cost plans, and pricing schedules.
    Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender stage.
    Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.
    Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
    Support handover of successful projects to the delivery and commercial teams.
    Maintain estimating databases and cost information.

    Requirements

    Previous experience in an Estimator role within the civil engineering or construction sector.
    Strong understanding of infrastructure, groundworks, highways, drainage, or utility projects.
    Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
    Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
    Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
    Full UK driving licence.
