How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Learning Support Practitioner
    Location: Westminster, NW8, London
    Start Date: 15 July 2026
    Contract: Full Time, Temporary
    Salary: £101–£125 per day

    Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

    Are you an experienced Learning Support Practitioner looking to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people? Do you have previous PRU experience and the resilience, confidence, and compassion needed to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

    Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Practitioner to join a specialist alternative provision in Westminster. The school supports children and young people aged 5–16 who are at risk of permanent exclusion or require additional behavioural and emotional support to successfully re-engage with education.

    This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled Learning Support Practitioner who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

    As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will:

    • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
    • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
    • Support behaviour management using calm and consistent strategies
    • Assist pupils both inside and outside the classroom
    • Deliver targeted interventions to support learning, engagement, and personal development
    • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and independence

    Requirements
    • Essential: Previous PRU experience
    • Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
    • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
    • Calm, resilient, and confident approach in challenging situations
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    • Background in youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, support work, or similar settings is highly desirable
