How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Registered Building Inspector (Class 2F)

    Sarto Thomas are delighted to be supporting a Local Authority in Kent with the appointment of an experienced Class 2F Registered Building Inspector on a contract basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RBI to join a busy Building Control team, working across a varied and challenging portfolio while helping to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance are maintained.

    The Role

    As a Registered Building Inspector, you will:

    * Undertake restricted activities in line with your level of registration and competence

    * Examine plans and carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation

    * Manage a diverse range of projects from inception through to completion

    * Initiate and manage enforcement action where required

    * Assess dangerous structures and implement immediate remedial measures where necessary

    * Provide specialist advice to colleagues, customers and stakeholders

    * Support and supervise more junior Registered Building Inspectors, including Class 1 RBIs

    * Contribute to the effective delivery of the Building Control service across the authority

    Requirements

    To be considered, you will possess:

    * Building Safety Regulator registration at Class 2F

    * Previous experience working within a Local Authority or Building Control environment

    * Detailed knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Building Act, Building Regulations and associated legislation

    * Strong technical and project management skills

    * Experience dealing with complex projects and enforcement matters

    * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
