How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Technical Manager/Project Manager

My client are recruiting for an experienced Technical Manager/Project Manager to join a well-established and growing engineering business that delivers specialist engineering solutions to customers across a diverse range of industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded leader who is looking to play a key role in shaping engineering excellence, developing high-performing teams, and driving innovation within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will lead a skilled technical function while supporting the continued growth and success of the business.

    The Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Technical Design and Engineering teams, ensuring projects, technical enquiries and operational activities are delivered efficiently, safely and to the highest standards.

Working closely with workshop, sales and operational teams, you will help ensure seamless communication, effective project delivery and exceptional customer service.

This position combines technical expertise with people leadership and would suit someone with a strong background in hydraulic engineering who enjoys both hands-on problem solving and strategic team management.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead and manage the Technical Design and Engineering teams, ensuring workloads are effectively planned and delivered in line with business requirements.

    * Provide technical leadership and specialist support in hydraulic systems, fluid power applications and engineering design.

    * Act as the primary point of contact for technical enquiries from both internal stakeholders and customers.

    * Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive consistency, quality and compliance.

    * Ensure effective communication and progression of quotations, technical enquiries, production schedules, repair activities and service work.

    * Support the conversion of technical opportunities into commercial orders through proactive customer engagement and technical guidance.

    * Collaborate closely with workshop, operations and sales teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and customer expectations are met.

    * Provide line management and support to engineering and workshop personnel, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

    * Monitor departmental performance, budgets and resource allocation, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.

    * Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, company procedures and engineering standards.

    * Drive continuous improvement initiatives across technical and operational functions.

    About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

    * Proven experience within a Fluid Power or Hydraulic Engineering environment.

    * Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated equipment, including pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators and power units.

    * Experience leading and developing engineering or technical teams.

    * A solid understanding of CAD systems and engineering design processes.

    * Strong organisational and project management skills.

    * Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

    What's on Offer?

    * Opportunity to join a growing and successful engineering business.

    * Varied and technically challenging work across multiple industries.

    * Leadership role with genuine scope to influence and develop the engineering function.

    * Supportive team environment with opportunities for professional development and career progression.

    * Competitive salary and benefits package
