How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Residential Support Worker
    Location: Preston (PR3)
    Salary: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)
    Contract Type: Flexible / Shift-Based Work

    About the Role

    We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join a children’s care home in the Preston (PR3) area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by providing high-quality care, support, and guidance within a safe and nurturing environment.

    This role offers a variety of shifts, and we are particularly looking for individuals who can demonstrate flexibility across days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts where required.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people
    Promote a safe, structured, and positive living environment
    Support with daily routines including education, activities, and life skills
    Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
    Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
    Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
    Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans
    What We’re Looking For

    Experience working with children or young people (residential care, education, or similar settings desirable)
    A caring, resilient, and patient approach
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work flexibly across a range of shifts
    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
    Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential)
