How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fawkes & Reece are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Site Manager to join a well-established and highly reputable civil engineering contractor on a major residential development project in the Bristol area.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work with a respected contractor delivering high-quality groundworks and infrastructure packages across residential, industrial, and commercial sectors.

    The Role

    As the Civil Foreman / Site Manager, you will oversee the full groundworks package on a new housing development, including:

    Roads and sewers
    Earthworks and excavation
    Drainage and ducting
    Foundations
    Sub-base preparation and surfacing
    Management of direct labour and subcontractorsYou will be responsible for ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

    Essential Requirements

    NRSWA / Street Works Qualification
    CSCS Card
    SMSTS
    First Aid Certificate
    Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, ducting, and surfacing
    Previous experience working on similar civil engineering or infrastructure projects
    Minimum 2 years' experience as a Site Manager or Foreman
    Proven employment history with strong references
    Must live within commutable distance of Bristol / NewportKey Responsibilities

    Oversee all site operations relating to groundworks, drainage, and ducting
    Coordinate and manage subcontractors and site teams
    Ensure works are delivered in line with programme deadlines
    Maintain high standards of health & safety compliance
    Ensure all work meets client quality expectations
    Liaise effectively with subcontractors, engineers, and project stakeholdersWhat's on Offer

    Competitive daily rate of £250 - £260
    6 months work minimum - which could continue for the right candidate
