How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HGV Driver / Yard Maintenance Assistant– Uxbridge

    Location: Uxbridge

    Salary: £17.50 – £18.00 per hour (£40,950 – £42,120 per annum)

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm

    Lunch Break: 1 hour unpaid

    Based on a 45-hour paid working week.

    HGV Driver / Yard Maintenance -About the Role

    We are currently seeking a reliable, organised, and proactive HGV Driver / Yard Maintenance Operative to join our team in Uxbridge.

    A Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence is essential, while a Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence would be highly advantageous.

    This is a varied role combining vehicle movements, yard organisation, and general site maintenance. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the yard operates efficiently, vehicles are positioned correctly, and customer access remains clear and safe at all times.

    HGV Driver / Yard Maintenance -Key Responsibilities

    Maintain the yard in a safe, clean, and organised condition at all times.

    Move HGVs, commercial vehicles, and cars around the site as required.

    Ensure the workshop entrance remains clear for vehicle movements.

    Keep access roads and customer parking areas clear and accessible.

    Manage customer vehicle drop-offs and collections efficiently.

    Reorganise parked vehicles to maximise yard capacity and operational efficiency.

    Liaise closely with workshop staff regarding vehicle movements and priorities.

    Carry out general yard maintenance and housekeeping duties.

    Assist with loading, unloading, and vehicle positioning when required.

    Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.

    HGV Driver / Yard Maintenance -Requirements

    Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence.

    Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence preferred.

    Previous experience driving and manoeuvring commercial vehicles.

    Experience working within a busy transport, workshop, or yard environment.

    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

    Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.

    Good understanding of vehicle safety procedures and yard operations.

    Physically fit, with the ability to undertake manual handling duties, including lifting up to 40kg as part of a two-person operation.

    Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.

    Good knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safety standards.
