How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A well-established, design-led structural engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing London team based in Brixton. Working across a diverse portfolio of high-quality projects, this is an opportunity to step into a technically strong, collaborative environment where engineers are trusted to take ownership and progress quickly.

The successful candidate will join a highly capable structures team working on a broad mix of projects across residential, commercial and education including complex refurbishment. You’ll be involved from concept design through to delivery, working closely with architects, contractors and internal multidisciplinary teams to shape intelligent, practical structural solutions.

This is a genuinely hands-on role where you’ll be given the autonomy to lead your own schemes while also supporting junior engineers in their development. The consultancy is known for its design quality and supportive culture, with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability and buildability. Projects are typically London-based, often architecturally ambitious, and range from bespoke one-off buildings through to larger mixed-use developments.

The client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with strong UK consultancy experience who is confident delivering projects independently and coordinating with design teams. You should be comfortable taking responsibility for structural design decisions, managing deadlines, and communicating effectively with clients and external stakeholders.

Ideally, you will be Chartered (IStructE or ICE), although there is excellent in-house support available for those working towards Chartership.

    What’s On Offer

Opportunity to work on architecturally led, high-profile London projects rather than repetitive typologies.

Clear pathway to Chartership with structured in-house mentoring and support if not already achieved.

A genuinely collaborative culture where engineers are trusted with autonomy and project ownership.

Exposure to complex, technically challenging schemes that will significantly enhance your portfolio.

Hybrid working options and a flexible approach to office attendance, centred around output and trust.

    What You Need To Succeed

Strong experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy environment.

Ability to lead structural design on projects from concept through to completion.

Proficiency in common design software (e.g. Tekla Structural Designer, ETABS, Robot, TEDDS or similar).

Solid understanding of UK building regulations, Eurocodes and construction methods.

Confidence liaising directly with architects, contractors and clients.

Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers would be beneficial.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.

Chartered Engineer status with the IStructE/ICE (or actively working towards) is highly desirable.

A strong academic background with a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
