How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Part-time Administrator – Belfast Office (Ref: 958)

    Deadline: Noon on 2nd July 2026

    Salary: This position is Grade 1 and the salary scale is from £28,713 pa rising to £33,889 pa (pro rata £20,268 pa rising to £23,921 pa for a 24 hour week) after four years’ service. (Pending pay award)

    Location: First Floor, Unit 2, 41 Stockmans Way, Belfast, BT9 7ET

    Hours of Work: 1pm – 6pm (Monday to Thursday), 1pm – 5pm (Friday)

    The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is one of the UK’s largest trade unions.
    A vacancy exists for a Part-time Administrator based at the Union’s Belfast Office. Please note that this position is fully office based.

    What we Offer:

    Principal duties are: to provide a typing and clerical service, assisting in the provision of help and advice to members.

    The successful applicant will possess: telephone and reception skills; the ability to work harmoniously in a small team and with individual colleagues; demonstrates tact, initiative and discretion; the ability to communicate effectively; well-developed planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work in order to meet deadlines; IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
