How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commercial Manager – Main Contractor (Infrastructure / Aviation / Structural Engineering) – Slough

    Salary/Package: £85,000 + Company Car, Pension Contribution, Travel, Share Options, Discretionary Bonus, Private Healthcare, Annual Leave

    O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a leading contractor delivering complex infrastructure and structural engineering projects across the South East. Their portfolio includes major transport, aviation-adjacent, public realm and heavy civil engineering schemes, requiring a high level of commercial expertise and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.

    They are seeking to hire an experienced Commercial Manager with strong NEC contract knowledge who can take commercial ownership of multiple projects and provide leadership across both pre-contract and post-contract phases. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business with a strong pipeline of technically challenging work and genuine long-term progression prospects.

    You will work closely with senior operational and commercial teams, helping to drive project performance whilst managing risk, contractual compliance and commercial strategy across a diverse project portfolio.

    Responsibilities

    Leading the commercial management of multiple infrastructure and structural engineering projects
    Administering and managing NEC contracts throughout the project lifecycle
    Preparing and reviewing cost reports, forecasts and monthly commercial submissions
    Managing procurement strategies and subcontractor accounts
    Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
    Leading change management, compensation events and commercial negotiations
    Working closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability
    Supporting the development and mentoring of junior commercial staff where required
    Requirements

    Experience working as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
    Strong working knowledge and practical experience administering NEC contracts
    Experience delivering infrastructure, structural engineering, transportation or heavy civil engineering projects
    Excellent commercial acumen with strong contractual and risk management capabilities
    Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project workstreams simultaneously
    Able and willing to commute to Slough and project locations as required
