How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Rotating Continental Shift Pattern | £15.44 per hour rising to £16.59 upon completion of training

    Major Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business based in Leeds to recruit a Trainee Lamination Operative.

    Due to continued expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Lamination Operative to join the production team.

    Shift Pattern

    Rotating continental shift pattern:

    2 weeks working 3 shifts per week
    1 week working 4 shifts per weekShift Times

    07:00 - 19:00
    19:00 - 07:00Monday to Friday rotating days and nights.

    Average 40 hours per week - breaks paid

    The Role

    As a Trainee Lamination Operative, you will be responsible for learning how to operate and manage lamination machinery within a busy production environment.

    You will ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications, quality standards, and production targets while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Working closely with the production team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality products for major UK brands.

    Full training will be provided for someone with printing experience, making this an ideal opportunity for candidates with manufacturing experience who are looking to develop specialist machine operating skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate lamination machinery safely and efficiently
    Learn to run and monitor specialist lamination equipment
    Ensure the correct works documentation is used before production commences
    Complete production paperwork accurately and on time
    Maintain high quality standards and ensure products meet customer specifications
    Work towards production KPIs and quality requirements
    Organise workload in line with daily production schedules
    Monitor process controls and identify potential issues before they impact production
    Communicate machine faults or production concerns to management
    Assist with equipment maintenance and general production activities as required
    Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
    Follow site quality, environmental, and health & safety procedures
    Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department
    Provide reasonable overtime cover when required

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have:

    Previous experience working within a manufacturing and printing environment
    A strong work ethic with excellent attendance and punctuality
    Good attention to detail and accuracy
    The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production environment
    Strong communication and teamwork skills
    A flexible and positive attitude towards learning new skills
    Good numeracy and problem-solving abilities
    The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
    A commitment to producing quality products right first time
    Awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards within manufacturing
    Experience of Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles would be advantageous
    Basic mechanical knowledge would be beneficial but is not essentialDue to the physical nature of the role, candidates should have a reasonable level of fitness, as duties may include lifting, bending, and manual handling activities.
