How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Policy Writer – Adult Social Care

    Location: Leicester (Glenfield)
    Rate: £25 per hour
    Contract: Temporary

    Overview

A public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Policy Writer to lead the review, update, and redevelopment of its Adult Social Care Charging Policy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for revising the existing policy to reflect legislative, regulatory, and operational changes introduced since April 2024. The policy is underpinned by the Care Act 2014 and associated regulations, and the organisation is seeking a modernised, accessible document that improves usability for both staff and members of the public.

The role will also involve reviewing charging policies published by other local authorities, identifying best practice approaches, and developing a streamlined policy structure that makes effective use of links to relevant government guidance and legislation. A concise summary of key policy changes will also be produced as a supporting reference document.

Working closely with operational leads and subject matter experts, the Policy Writer will ensure the final policy is accurate, compliant, clear, and fit for purpose.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Review and update the existing Adult Social Care Charging Policy to reflect current legislation, guidance, and local requirements.

    * Research changes to national policy, statutory guidance, and regulations affecting Adult Social Care charging arrangements.

    * Benchmark against charging policies used by other local authorities to identify opportunities for improvement and best practice.

    * Develop a clear, concise, and user-friendly policy document that supports accessibility and ease of understanding.

    * Incorporate signposting and links to relevant government resources and statutory guidance where appropriate.

    * Produce a summary document outlining key policy changes and updates.

    * Engage with service leads, finance teams, operational managers, and other stakeholders to gather information and validate policy content.

    * Ensure all policy documentation is consistent, compliant, and aligned with organisational objectives.

    * Support the review and approval process by responding to stakeholder feedback and making necessary revisions.

    Essential Skills and Experience

    * Proven experience writing, reviewing, or developing policies within the public sector, local government, health, social care, or a regulated environment.

    * Strong understanding of policy development processes and governance requirements.

    * Excellent written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

    * Ability to analyse complex legislation, regulations, and guidance and translate these into practical, accessible policy documents.

    * Strong research and analytical skills.

    * Experience engaging and collaborating with a range of stakeholders and subject matter experts.

    * Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timescales.

    Desirable Experience

    * Knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, particularly the Care Act 2014 and associated charging regulations.

    * Previous experience working on financial assessment, charging, or Adult Social Care policy projects.

    * Experience within local government or wider public sector organisations..

    Working Arrangement

The role will initially be office-based for induction and stakeholder engagement, with the potential for a hybrid working arrangement thereafter, subject to business requirements
