How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated **Engineering Technical Author Apprentice** to join our Engineering Department. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience while studying towards a **Level 3 Engineering Design Technician qualification** through day release at West Nottinghamshire College.

    Over the course of your apprenticeship, you'll develop valuable technical, engineering, and documentation skills while working alongside experienced engineers on real products and projects.

    What You'll Be Doing

    As part of our Engineering team, you'll learn how technical information supports the design, manufacture, testing, and release of engineering products.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Working closely with engineers and other departments to ensure documentation reflects product changes and improvements* Producing technical documentation to support new product releases* Creating and maintaining installation, user, and service manuals* Managing and maintaining Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation* Supporting document control processes and ensuring information is accurate and up to date* Managing technical documentation across internal systems and platforms* Assisting with product data setup and integration activities* Supporting the communication of new product releases across the business* Maintaining core engineering documentation, including:  * Installation Manuals  * User Manuals  * Factory Acceptance Test Documentation  * Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)  * Fabrication Drawings and Models

    What We're Looking For

    This role would suit someone who enjoys both technical subjects and communication, and who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

    Essential Requirements

    * Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including Mathematics* Interest in engineering, design, manufacturing, or technology* Strong attention to detail* Good written and verbal communication skills* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications* Good organisational and time management skills* Ability to work in a structured and methodical manner* Positive attitude and willingness to learn* Motivation to achieve high standards and develop professionally

    Desirable

    * Interest in technical writing, engineering documentation, or product development* Full UK Driving Licence
