Tradewind Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work on a long-term basis at a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Rotherham. This full-time role is due to commence in September and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during teacher absences and ensuring students remain engaged with the work set.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects.
Supervise whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively and in line with the school's behaviour policy.
Ensure students remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout lessons.
Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
Record attendance and report any issues or concerns to relevant staff members.
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Support the wider school community and participate in school activities where required.
Requirements
Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Confidence in leading groups of secondary-aged students.
Ability to adapt quickly and work across a variety of subject areas.
Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to work.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role.
Degree-level education or relevant qualifications.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and secondary school practices.
