How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

GEM Partnership is delighted to be partnering with a leading global manufacturer of solutions for the energy and infrastructure sectors, which has recently acquired a major facility in the North East of England.

With a strong order book and robust pipeline of business opportunities, the new owners have already committed to significant CAPEX investment into the North East operation. This represents an exciting opportunity to join a newly established UK operation at the start of a major investment programme that will transform the long-term prospects of both the site and the wider business.

As part of a ramp up across their Operations and Engineering functions, the successful candidate will become part of a progressive organisation committed to delivering complex projects for major international clients around the world. The business fosters a working environment where safety, teamwork and the continuous development of its people are central to everything it does.

    The Role:

    * The role will oversee and optimise welding processes for heavy engineering manufacturing projects. This role is critical in ensuring weld quality, performance efficiency, and timely delivery aligned with business KPIs.
    * Monitor, develop and improve welding procedures to ensure quality, integrity, and compliance with standards, providing technical welding support across projects.
    * Conduct R&D activities to enhance weld properties and expand manufacturing capabilities.
    * Identify and implement new welding technologies, materials, and techniques.
    * Monitor, analyse, and improve welding productivity and efficiency.
    * Manage welding procedures and welder qualification portfolios.
    * Authorise and manage welding-related documentation and procedures.
    * Work closely with engineering, production, QA/QC teams, suppliers, and clients.

    The Person:

    * Candidates should ideally be degree qualified in a related engineering discipline, with professional registration (e.g. CEng or IEng) highly desirable.
    * IWE/EWE Diploma qualified, or near completion with substantial experience.
    * The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in welding processes including mechanised SAW, MAG/GMAW, and MMA/SMAW, ideally within a high-volume heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
    * Proven experience as a Welding Engineer in heavy manufacturing or fabrication
    * Solid understanding of welding safety standards and procedures in weld inspection and quality assurance.
    * Knowledge of metallurgy and material selection.
    * Ability to interpret technical standards and specifications

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a desire to be impactful to join an ambitious and rapidly growing business at an exciting time in their evolution, offering a clear pathway for career progression. Benefits include 34 days holiday, employer matched contributory pension scheme, access to life insurance and use of an onsite gym.

GEM Partnership is acting as an employment agency on this vacancy.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact every candidate individually. If you do not hear from us within 7 days of submitting your application, please assume that you have not been shortlisted on this occasion.
