How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As Site Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising day-to-day site activities, managing site gangs, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Promoting strong HSQE standards and ensuring operatives are wearing the correct PPE

    * Carrying out daily briefings, toolbox talks, inspections, and site checks

    * Reporting near-misses, accidents, hazards, and changing site conditions to management

    * Working closely with the wider project team to support safe and efficient delivery

    * Ensuring adequate manpower, materials, plant, and equipment are available and organised on site

    * Reading and interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, and site plans

    * Managing multiple gangs and coordinating day-to-day activities on site

    * Maintaining accurate records, including site updates, progress information, and timesheets

    * Identifying and resolving site issues while ensuring works are completed to specification

    * Supporting and developing younger members of the team

    The Candidate

    The successful candidate will have proven experience working as a Site Foreman, General Foreman, Works Manager, or similar within the civils, water, drainage, earthworks, RC, or highways sectors.

    You will ideally have:

    * Experience supervising general civils, drainage, reinforced concrete, earthworks, water, or highways works

    * Strong understanding of RAMS, PPE requirements, and site health and safety procedures

    * A positive approach to HSQE and safe working practices

    * Ability to manage site gangs, labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors

    * Experience reading drawings, specifications, and construction details

    * Good record-keeping skills, including timesheets and daily site information

    * Strong communication skills and the ability to work with project teams, operatives, and management

    * A practical, solutions-focused approach to site delivery

    * Ability to support, mentor, and develop junior members of the team

    Package

    * Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience

    * 10% car allowance or company van/car

    * Pension contributions of 3% to 6%

    * Annual profit share bonus after 12 months’ service

    * 25 days annual leave, including 7 days at Christmas

    * 8 bank holidays

    * North West and Cumbria-based works

    * Opportunity to work across civils, water, drainage, highways, RC, and earthworks projects

    * Long-term opportunity within a busy civil engineering environment

    This role would suit an experienced Site Foreman looking for a stable opportunity across varied infrastructure and civil engineering schemes in the North West and Cumbria
