How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    North West & Cumbria
    Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 depending on experience
15 - 20 month scheme starting in Liverpool in August

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a major AMP8 water-sector scheme in the North West, with a £15m–£20m project due to start in Liverpool in August.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hard-working and dynamic Project Manager with strong experience in the water sector, particularly across reinforced concrete, shaft sinking, and United Utilities environments.

    The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from design and ECI through to construction, commissioning, and handover.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Managing water-sector projects from early contractor involvement through to commissioning

    * Defining project scopes, identifying technical requirements, and developing robust, deliverable project plans

    * Overseeing reinforced concrete works, shaft sinking, and associated civil engineering activities

    * Working within a United Utilities environment and ensuring compliance with client requirements

    * Managing project costs, forecasting expenditure, and monitoring commercial performance

    * Leading site teams and resources, including supporting the development of team members

    * Managing contractual relationships, including NEC4 contracts, variations, and change management

    * Ensuring works are delivered in line with UK water regulations, environmental permits, and health, safety, and environmental legislation

    * Identifying, tracking, and mitigating project risks throughout the project lifecycle

    * Acting as the key point of contact between clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and local communities

    * Liaising with stakeholders including the Environment Agency, Ofwat, local authorities, and supply chain partners where required

    * Inspecting completed installations to ensure works are delivered to specification and in line with industry best practice

    The Candidate

The successful candidate will have proven experience managing water-sector projects, ideally within an AMP, United Utilities, or similar regulated utility environment.

    You will ideally have:

    * Experience working as a Project Manager within the water, wastewater, utilities, or heavy civils sector

    * Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete works, shaft sinking, and associated civil engineering activities

    * Experience managing projects from design/ECI through to commissioning and handover

    * Previous exposure to United Utilities projects or frameworks

    * Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, forecasting, variations, and change management

    * Working knowledge of NEC4 contracts

    * A strong understanding of UK water regulations, environmental permits, and HSE legislation

    * Ability to manage teams, subcontractors, resources, and stakeholder relationships

    * Excellent communication skills and the ability to act as the main point of contact for clients and delivery partners

    * A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach to project delivery

    Package

    * Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 depending on experience

    * North West & Cumbria-based works

    * Opportunity to work on a major AMP8 water-sector project

    * Long-term career opportunity within a busy infrastructure environment

This role would suit an experienced Water Project Manager looking to take ownership of a major AMP8 scheme across the North West
