How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you ambitious and ready to start your career in a supportive, collaborative firm? We’re looking for a motivated Apprentice to join our friendly team in Droitwich and begin their journey into the exciting world of Payroll.

    Payroll is a dynamic, respected, and well-rewarded profession – and an apprenticeship is the perfect way to get started. You’ll gain hands-on experience, earn a salary, and work towards nationally recognised qualifications – all at the same time.

    Who We Are

    With over 40 years of success, we’ve grown into one of the largest independent accountancy firms in Worcestershire, with several offices and a team of 270+ professionals led by 10 dedicated Partners.

    We deliver the same high-quality services you’d expect from a Top 10 firm but with a family feel and community-focused approach. We’re passionate about supporting our people to grow their careers, and many of our leaders started out just like you – through our home-grown talent.

    What You Will be Doing

    As a Payroll Apprentice, you will learn how to:

    * Use professional payroll software to process weekly, monthly, and quarterly payrolls

    * Manage the starters and leavers process for clients

    * Process statutory payments such as SMP, SPP, and SSP

    * Handle payroll year-end tasks including P60s

    * Administer auto-enrolment and workplace pensions

    * Support clients with a high standard service and clear communication

    * Carry out day-to-day admin and HMRC-related paperwork

    * Learn how payroll integrates with real business operations

    You’ll spend part of your week studying, and the rest gaining practical experience with our expert team.

    What We’re Looking For

    To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

    Qualifications/Skills

    * 6 GCSEs at grade 5 or above (including Maths & English)

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills

    * Excellent customer service mindset

    * Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office

    * Well-organised, self-motivated, and detail-focused

    * A full UK driving licence

    Personal Attributes

    * A positive team player

    * Reliable, enthusiastic, and adaptable

    * Respectful of confidentiality

    * Eager to learn and grow

    What We Offer

    * A competitive salary

    * A full training contract with study support

    * 28 days holiday, rising to 33 with service (including bank holidays)

    * Access to our auto-enrolment pension scheme (if eligible)

    * A supportive and friendly team environment

    * Real career development opportunities

    An apprenticeship with us is more than just a job – it’s the first step towards a professional career with long-term growth and potential
